The crash happened in Putnam County on Sunday, Oct. 6, when an all-terrain vehicle crashed down a cliff in Cold Spring at the gorge on Mill Road, according to the North Highlands Fire Department.

Arriving firefighters soon made their way to the cliff and packaged the man into a stokes basket before carrying him around 60 feet up the ledge to an awaiting ambulance.

He was then rushed to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla by ambulance after a helicopter had to cancel because of poor weather, the department said.

The cause of the crash was not released.
